Energy use and Recycling
Our Solar Energy system is able to generate enough renewable energy to cover the majority of our electricity
requirements in the dairy and cheesemaking operations.  We have also installed  energy efficent equipment in the dairy to reduce the amount of electricity required to run the milking equipment.

We recycle all plastic and paper waste produced during milk and cheese production.

Our Food Service clients are encouraged to return tubs and packaging that can be reused. All our packaging is fully recyclable.

Water use
We source all our operational water from rain water either through dams or  into water tanks with a top up by tanker during dry seasons.  On average we use a 1000l per day across the dairy and cheese making processes.

Goats are relatively clean animals in the dairy so we do not need to use water to clean the dairy floor and yards after milking.  The dirt and manure in the yards is simply swept up at the end of milking and used to fertilise tree plantings, vegetable gardens and the farm  orchard.

We do not irrigate our pastures or use bore water.

All waste water from milking and cheese making is used to irrigate tree plantings. Whey from Cheese making is fed to the goats after milking.

Chemicals and sprays
We operate a minimal/no spray approach to the farm management and do not  use artifical artifical fertilisers.

We do not use chemicals on the animals with the exception of those required to save an sick goat’s life.

We do not use growth promotants, hormones or feed based antibiotics on our goats.
